Respected Monarch and Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, said on Monday that the insecurity situation in the country was not peculiar to Nigeria , affirming that it has become a global issue affecting many countries.

The traditional ruler gave this observation while receiving the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, who visited him to empathise with him over the attack on his convoy by gunmen on January 19, 2013.

Bayero, who recently returned to the country from a medical trip abroad, expressed hope that the insecurity challenges in the country would soon be over, also calling for fervent prayers.

The 83-year-old Monarch thanked all those who condoled with him over the incident. He particularly thanked President John Mahama of Ghana and his Benin Republic counterpart, President Boni Yayi, who visited him while in the UK.

Earlier, Vice President, Namadi Sambo said he was in Kano to commiserate with the emir and people of the state over the attack, adding that the Federal Government is doing all it could to tackle the situation.
