The Chief Imam of Akureland, Abdul Akeem Yayi Akorede has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to adopt proactive measures to tackle the high level of insecurity in the country.
Akorede made the appeal yesterday at a praying ground to mark this year’s ED EL KABIR festival in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
The cleric also warned members of the Boko Haram Sect to desist from bombing innocent citizens, stressing that it was high time they stopped killings in the Northern part of the country.
He noted that Islam as a religion do not support any form of violence.
While urging President Jonathan to to be more committed in the fight against insecurity in the country, the cleric noted that those sponsoring Boko Haram sect should be exposed.
Akorode urged Muslim leaders to use the celebration as a time for sober refelection.
