Highly placed traditional ruler and the Emir of Dutse, Jigawa State, Alhaji Nuhu Sunusi, has asked the National Assembly to find a lasting solution to the nation’s many problems.
The Monarch emphasised the extreme insecurity in the country and called for concerted efforts on the part of the lawmakers to curb the situation.
He told the lawmakers thus “you must be bold and fearless and history will judge you and Allah will guide you. If our illustrious warriors (National Assembly) of good governance fail, we will all share the shame of ignominy.”
Sanusi said this Monday, when the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, paid him a courtesy visit in his palace, stressing that under a democratic system, the legislature had a lot of responsibilities towards improving the lot of the people.
He said: “We have come a long way in our efforts to democratise; mainly through determined efforts of the legislature. We look up to you to find lasting solutions to the problems facing our nation today.
“As a result of many failures and the urgent need to address societal issues of security and free and fair election, these issues have manifested themselves through corruption in public places, poverty, illiteracy and unemployment among the youth.”
Earlier, Alhaji Tambuwal had told the emir that he was in his palace to solicit for his support and fatherly advice on several issues affecting the nation and to commission some laudable projects executed by the present administration in the state.
