Over one hundred and fifty medical practitioners in Cross River State on Wednesday booed the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Tina Agbor.
The protesting doctors were at the Governor’s office to register their displeasure over the incessant kidnap of doctors in the State.
The doctors had said that security situation in the state was not conducive for them to function hence their decision to withdrew services in all public, private and mission hospitals in the state.
However, the SSG, had while responding, noted that the State was safe for people to do their businesses, a statement that attracted angry reaction from the doctors.
For over ten minutes, the doctors were on top of their voices, claiming that the comment was not true as the state had witnessed worst security situation under Governor Ben Ayade.
Shortly, after the doctors were calmed down by security personnel and other officials of government, the Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Dr Effiong Mkpanam presented a protest letter to the SSG for onward delivery to Governor Ayade.
