Injury crisis hits Algeria ahead of Nigeria clash

Algeria are facing an injury crisis, with few days left before they take on Nigeria in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match.

No fewer than four key players are doubtful for the encounter in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

Faouzi Ghoulam, Ryad Boudebouz, Hilal Soudani and Rachid Ghezzal are all uncertain for the match due to injuries.

Ghoulam and Boudebouz played for their clubs Napoli and Montpellier respectively this past weekend, but arrived camp with abductor problems.

Dynamo Zagbreb striker Soudani and Ghezzal from Lyon did not even feature for their clubs last weekend because of injuries.

Mehdi Tahrat, who plays his football for Angers in France, is also nursing a groin problem.

Top stars Islam Slimani and Nabil Bentaleb have also endured injury scares most recently.

Nigeria will be seeking to extend their lead at the top of the African qualifying Group B, when they host the Desert Warriors on Saturday.

The Super Eagles defeated Zambia 2-1 in Ndola in the first round of fixtures, while Algeria were held to a 1-1 draw by Cameroon.
