INEC begs Plateau voters to come for their PVCs, says 140,863 cards uncollected

As the 2019 general elections draw nearer, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Plateau State says it has taken delivery of another batch of 326,889 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and admonished those who registered and are yet to collect their PVCs to do so, saying 140, 863 are still in the commission’s custody.

This brings the number of PVCs received by the state to 451,154 for those who registered between April 2017 to August 31, 2018.

INEC through its Head of Voters Education and Publicity in Plateau, Osaretin Imahiyereobo said the state had received 124,265 PVCs earlier in the year.

“The total PVCs collected so far by the registered as at November 16, 2018, is 114, 443 out of 255,306 leaving a balance of 140, 863.

“With the 326,889 new PVCs, the number of cards available for collection now stands at 467, 752.

“The highest number of PVCs collected when the exercise started in 2017 took place during the seven day Display of registers for Claims and Objections from November 6-12, 2018.”

He said the number of cards collected during the period stands at 37, 011 as a result of the collection centres at the 207 Registration Areas.

“The total registered voters in Plateau State now stands at 2, 454, 200. The total registered voters for 2015 elections was 2, 003, 046 while the CVR exercise had 451,154.

“The Commission admonished those who registered and had not collected their PVCs to visit the nearest Local Government Area office to do so,” Imahiyereobo said.
