Voting has ended in most polling units in the seven local governments that make up the Anambra central senatorial zone.

As expected, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA is coasting home to victory, despite the apathy that rocked the election.

Already, supporters of Chief Victor Umeh, candidate of the APGA have started jubilating in celebration of the anticipated victory of their candidate.

The election commenced at 8 a.m in seven Local Government Areas of Awka North, Awka South, Anaocha, Dunukofia, Njikoka, and Idemili South, and Idemili.

Voting also ended at about 2pm in most of the polling units in the zone, but Leo Nkedife, the Head of Department of INEC in Awka, said that prospective voters who are in the queue 2pm when voting was expected to end may be given extra time to conclude.

Indigenes of the zone are already expecting the announcement of the result of the election.

Mr Ralph Uzor, a member of APGA in Awka South said, “we are very enthusiastic about the result of this election.

“We have not had a senator for more than two years, and we are happy that the election has held today. We are calling on INEC not to keep us waiting for too long, but to quickly declare the result.”
