With 8 days to the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that it has been able to distribute 78. 93 percent of the total cards available for collection by voters in the country.
According to the Commission, in a release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the commission, Mr. Kayode Idowu, about 54,327,747 (or 78.93 per cent) out of 68,833,476 Permanent Voters Cards have been distributed so far, leaving a total of 14,505,729 PVCs to be distributed.
According to the release, only about 2,052,380 (3.01 per cent) were distributed between February 17 and now.
Idowu said Akwa Ibom State has the highest number of PVCs collected so far at 1,587,566 or 94.46 per cent, closely followed by Bauchi State with 1,938,192, PVCs or 94.36 per cent while Ogun State has the lowest figure of 808,590 PVCs collection or about 44.20 per cent.
