The Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb Harry Purwanto on Wednesday in Abuja said that Indonesia was ready to partner Nigeria to boost its infrastructure and food production.
The Ambassador, who said this during an interactive session with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum, said both countries had lot of experiences to share in their quest for social development.
The ambassador said considering their large populations, it was important for the leaders of the two countries to make food security their priority.
He said in order to meet its food needs, Indonesia had decided to explore the potential in its huge population of young people and advised Nigeria to do the same.
“We have to go the extra mile to ensure that there is enough food for everybody, we have to keep everybody happy.
“We have to develop out capacities in the agric sector and move to mechanised agriculture; moving from the simple to the sophisticated”, the envoy said.
He said Nigeria had huge arable land that could be utilised to ensure that the country had food all year round.
“We have to transcend from dependency on just natural resources to utlisiing our endowments. We have to improve on what nature has given to us for our own good,” the envoy said.
