Inauguration: Mai Mala Buni sworn in as Yobe governor

Mai Mala Buni was on Wednesday sworn in as the 4th democratically-elected Governor of Yobe State.

The swearing in of the new governor was administered by the Yobe state Chief Judge, Justice Garba Musa Nabaruma, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Damaturu.

The event also featured the swearing in of the new Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana.

Conducted in a low-key manner, the event however attracted hundreds of APC chieftains, heads of security agencies operating in the state, political office holders, elected state and national assembly members as well as royal fathers among others.

Shortly after taking oath of allegiance, Governor Buni said the swearing in and taking over have marked another milestone in the political history of the state.

“This day marked the beginning of a new administration which the good people of Yobe state consciously voted into office on March 9th, 2019.

“The genuine mandate will enable us to continue with the implementation of far reaching policies and programs towards making Yobe state achieve it full potentials through the policy of all humility and consolidation of legacy achievement recorded by His Excellency Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Gaidam.

“In keeping with the oath of office and oath of allegiance just administered on me, I seek the guidance of Almighty Allah (SWT) to enable us deliver on our promises abide by their tenets,” Buni declared.

The new governor pledged to justify the confidence repose on him and his deputy by the citizens of Yobe state.
