In the spirit of Christmas: Abia State Governor sets eight convicts free

In commemoration of this year’s Christmas, the Governor of Abia state, Gov. Theordor Orji, has pardoned and set free eight prisoners in the state.

The Governor’s kind gesture was disclosed in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ugochukwu Emezue in the state capital, Umuahia.

The beneficiaries included Ngozi Simon, Ngozi Esina, Okwuonu Eme, Lawrence Egbu, Sunday Amala, Chidiebere Jacob, Chibuzo Azuonwe and Pius Anizo who were serving various jail terms.

Furthermore, in the Governor’s Christmas message to the people of Abia state, Orji urged Christians in the state to “continue to exhibit those virtues Jesus Christ symbolises.”

He emphasised that its only prayers that can change situations in the country for good.

He noted that he is optimistic that the country will soon become the envy of other nations.
