Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, has dispelled rumours that he was working to succeed Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He described the reports as “false”.
Briefing newsmen at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport on his arrival from Abuja, Imoke said having been in the public limelight for 16 years, it was high time he softens on active politics. He expressed readiness to remain a loyal party member and contribute his quota to rebuilding the party.
Some media houses had reported that Mu’azu left the country to avoid being asked to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party, where calls for his resignation may be made.
It is also believed that the governors are scheming to have one of them to succeed the embattled ex-Bauchi governor. .
