Members of the Shi’ite, Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, Plateau State chapter, has reiterated the call for the unconditional release of their spiritual leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

They also lamented the plight of fifty of their members arrested by security agents in Jos on 12/10/2016.

Zonal leader of the sect, Dr. Ibrahim Sulaiman Jahun, made this known to journalists at a press conference in Jos saying that the army molested, intimidated, and tear-gassed their members.

“They arrested and subjected many Muslims to illegal harassment and charged them to court.

“The condition in which some minors and women, including pregnant and nursing mothers are is unbearable,” they observed.

According to them, the trial judge granted bail to the minors, injured, pregnant women and feeding mothers, on the condition that Jama’atu Nasril Islam should sign the bail application which they rejected and that two civil servants on level 14 should also stand for them.

They said twenty two out of the fifty people in detention were students, thirteen of which are minors, including a nine year old pupil.

The IMN said its members were still being arrested.

“On Monday 24/10/16, three of the members of IMN reported to the police that items stolen from the IMN’s demolished Markaz were seen being sold.

“Instead of the Police to act accordingly, they detained the complainants and charged them to court,” it alleged.

According to the leader, the IMN was ready to lawfully challenge the ban placed on them by the Plateau State Government.

“We are against the government’s ill treatment of our members; granting of bail is a constitutional right.

“We reiterate our position that we are peaceful and non violent in our conduct for about four decades and so we remain,” they reiterated.

They explained that they would utilize the legal machineries to demand for justice up to the International Criminal Court of justice.
