Tension is on the rise in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital over planned cabinet shake-up by the Borno state Governor, Kashim Shettima.
Daily Post had learnt that, the purported cabinet shake-up was as a result of pressure from some political elements in government who want the former governor, Sheriff’s loyalists out of the system in order to position themselves properly towards a successful 2015 general election.
Sources close to government house, who did not want his name in print told Daily Post that, the recent clamour by some faceless youth, calling for the impeachment of the state deputy governor, Alhaji Zannah Mustapha was the handiwork of some people who want to have total control of the state.
A reliable source further revealed thus “The truth is that, the governor may not know that some people want to use him against his boss. But this is like biting the fingers that fed you. The governor should not in anyway be seen as fighting Ali Sheriff at this moment even if he is behind some of this things that is happening within his government.
“I am aware that the governor has lost all hopes of making it to the government House, particularly during the court case but for Ali Sheriff who did the all impossible for him to remain in power, and as such, I have my personal reserve but I feel it is too early for governor Shettima to start listening to some noise about his own boys and Ali Sheriff’s boys in his cabinent. They are all his boys .”
