The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday says it will commence issuance of the new passport in the country from 29th of April, 2019.
DAILY POST had reported last two months that NIS announced March 4 as the date to commence issuance of the new 10-year enhanced e-Passport.
It would be recalled that the new e-passport was officially launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
NIS Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday James, disclosed this through a statement in Abuja, on Monday.
The statement read: “The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, MFR, regrets to inform the general public that the rollout of the new 10-year enhanced e-Passport has been rescheduled to 29th April 2019 to finalize the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN) with the new Passport.
“Consequent upon this, the price of the current passport still remains the same and applicants are encouraged to visit our website at www.immigration.gov.ng for further information on fees payable and application processes.”
