Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede has spoken concerning some persons intercepted by its officers in Kogi State.
The scores of travelers were reportedly on their way to Ekiti State.
DCI S. James, NIS Public Relations Officer, in statement on Thursday said those stopped were Nigerians and were not going for Ekiti election.
He said: “The Comptroller of Immigration, Kogi State Command in whose jurisdiction the travelers were intercepted confirmed with records that they were all Nigerians and no single Nigerien was found among the people apprehended.
“NIS thus wishes to state that the Command in the course of routine assignment had intercepted the travelers, profiled them to ascertain their true nationality.
“They are all Nigerian citizens travelling to Lagos for their legitimate businesses. The actual number of the travellers is 167 and not 200.”
