The Abia state Commissioner of Information, John Okiyi Kalu, has mocked the opposition over their boast of using federal might to sack Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the just-concluded March 9 governorship and the State House of Assembly elections in the state.
He berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) over its petition calling for total cancelation of the gubernatorial poll in the state.
DAILY POST had reported on Sunday, that the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, Dr. Alex Otti and Dr. Uche Ogah, had jointly rejected the results of the Saturday’s polls.
The two frontline candidates in the election, alleged at a joint press conference in Umuahia, that the results were highly tampered with in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Kalu, who made his opinion known in an interview with newsmen on Monday, in Umuahia, the state capital, attributed the victory of the Governor in the just-concluded election, to hardwork and exemplary leadership of the PDP-led government in the state, which according to him, is anchored on transparency and accountability.
According to the Commissioner, “Let them go and hide their face in shame. Like my local government area(Ohafia), I voted alongside with other APC and APGA members of all class, and the election was free and fair, we agreed on that time.
“If they are saying any other thing, the oppositions should hide their face and congratulate Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. Have you ever seen anybody accepting defeat in Abia gubernatorial election, particularly after one of them had boasted that he is coming with red eyes and the other saying, he is going to use federal might.
“Leave those people, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu will be sworn in as governor for second time in May 29, 2019 because the people of Abia state overwhelmingly voted for him. I thank the good people of Abia for the show of love and support to the Peoples Democratic Party-led administration in the state.”
