Mr. Chijioke Chukwu, a House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Abia state, on Tuesday, criticized Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led government for the current infrastructure decay in the state, saying that the governor had not performed well.
Speaking to newsmen in Aba, Abia state, Chukwu described the PDP-administration in Abia as a colossal failure, and mocked the government for celebrating cosmetic and sub-standard projects.
According to the APC chieftain,” The Governor in his own right, from the level of his exposure, is doing his best. But his best cannot address the level of decay in Abia.
“If you come to Abia now, salaries are not being paid. If you go to health care facilities in Abia, is like a mortuary.
“When you come to the area of infrastructure, if you add the number of roads Ikpeazu government is claiming to have done, is not up to 30 kilometres. Why is Ikpeazu government celebrating a 4.6 kilometre road as if he has done all the whole roads in the state?
“I was watching network news yesterday, a governor did 75 kilometre roads without making noise. And go and look at the quality of work on that road. So, why is the governor celebrating 4.5 kilometres road?
He asked,” What is he elected to do? Is it not to provide infrastructural amenities for the people of the state? Why are they celebrating 2 kilometres road, when other governors are doing 80 to 150 kilometre road?
“You cannot see any 120 kilometre stretch road in Abia state. Ikpeazu government has not done well. In terms of infrastructure, he has failed to be honest with you”.
“The governor has not paid salaries to teachers and health workers in Abia. Is Abia poorer than Enugu? Is Abia poorer than Ebonyi state?
“But visit Ebonyi and Enugu states, you will see massive infrastructural development. Governor Ikpeazu, as far as I know, is on his way out. There is no single thing he can be remembered for.
“History will not be fair to him. I know he is leaving that seat come 2019 by God’s grace, so that Abians can have new lease of life”.
