The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Idris Abubakar has withdrawn the criminal cases against the Managing Director of Daily Times, Fidelis Anosike and his brother, Noel.

Idris’ decision of withdrawing the cases was contained in a letter dated 2nd February, 2018 and was signed by ACP Henry Njoku Esq. and Omosun Mathew, Prosecution Officer.

The letter was addressed to the Registrar, Mpape Magistrate Court, FCT Abuja.

This followed a petition by the Anosike brothers sent to the IGP on Wednesday, 31st January, 2018.

Both brothers, in the petition complained that a certain former lawmaker, Sen. Ikechukwu Obiora employed the services of DIG Hyacinth Dagala to evade their Abuja and Lagos offices, while carting away many equipment and properties.

In the petition, they also told the IGP that they were “arrested and detained, refused bail alongside their staff.”

The cases listed in the withdrawal letter are: CR/10/2018 1GP Vs Fidelis Anosike; CR/18/2018 IGP Vs Ayodele Olaleke and 4 others; and Motion No: MN11/2018 IGP Vs Fidelis Anosike and Noel Anosike.

The statement stated that, “Take notice that the prosecution wishes to discontinue the above stated cases before this Honourable Court.”

Recall that Justice Yusuf Halilu of an Abuja Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court had recently granted bail to both brothers.
