IGP Monitoring Unit rescues two policemen, civilians from kidnappers in Rivers

Four victims including a Police inspector and a sergeant have been rescued from kidnappers’ den in Omudioga, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers state.

The victims were rescued by personnel of the IGP Monitoring Unit led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ben Igwe.

It was gathered that Inspector Francis Salifu, Sergeant Umar Arikiya, Chinda Akparandu and Abiodun Saheed were kidnapped along the Omerelu-Elele road in Rivers state last month.

The victims were said to be on their way from Abuja for an investigation in the state when they were taken.

A top Police source told DAILY POST that the victims were rescued by the IGP Monitoring Unit who led an onslaught on the kidnappers’ den in Omudioga where some of the gunmen were killed during a shoot-out with others arrested.
