Ighalo’s coach reveals why he is leaving Watford

Odion Ighalo’s coach at Watford, Quique Sanchez Flores, has revealed he is leaving the club this summer, because he and the board do not share the same opinion of the club’s season.

Flores is set to quit the club when his contract runs out in June and former Inter Milan boss, Walter Mazzarri, is rumoured to take over on a three-year deal.

“Yesterday I had a meeting of the club to review the season, after that I confirmed that the club and I do not have the same point of view about the season,” Flores said at his press conference on Friday.

“So we don’t have the necessary conditions to activate the clause to renew the contract. My contract finishes at the end of June, then I’ll leave Watford, this is the consequence.

“I’m very grateful to the players, amazing favour and feeling from the fans, I love the Watford fans, I felt completely happy this year, I’ve enjoyed the experience. We have a lot of reasons to be happy because we enjoyed this amazing journey. A lot of good memories from this season.”

Flores arrived at Watford last June and helped the club retain its Premier League status, after they won promotion back to the top flight.
