Ighalo pens new five-year deal with Watford


Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, has signed a new five-year contract with Watford.

The newly-promoted Premier League side, confirmed the deal on their official website on Friday.

“The Hornets are pleased to confirm that Odion Ighalo has signed a new five-year deal at Vicarage Road,” the statement read.

“The Nigerian striker, who has scored 21 goals in 42 appearances since signing for Watford in July 2014, has further committed his future to the club until 2020.

“Ighalo initially moved to Watford on loan ahead of the 2014/15 campaign, but that move was made permanent three months into the promotion-winning season after a successful start to life at The Vic.

“The 26-year-old saved his best form for the early months of 2015, scoring a remarkable 13 goals in nine fixtures at the start of the year, and he went on to find the net 20 times in just 22 league starts”, it added.

Ighalo has scored 17 times for Watford this year – more league goals in 2015 than any other player in all four tiers of English football.
