The new chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ado Ekiti Branch, James Onuoha, has said that all Igbo men and women would remain in Ekiti State to cast their votes during the general elections.

Onuoha disclosed this in Ado Ekiti at the inauguration of the new executives.

Onuaha said: “I advise our people to let peace be their watchword at this time of elections. We are big stakeholders in the Nigeria project and we must succeed”.

He, however, said the group was not adopting candidates for the coming election, saying everyone was free to vote for his candidate of choice.

“Every one of our people should come out en-masse and exercise their franchise, we will not tell anyone who to vote but they should vote for who their heart choose. We will not go anywhere, but exercise our franchise here in Ekiti.

“My role would be supervisory; I would be supervising the affairs of the many Igbo people in Ekiti. We are so many that, after the indigenes, the next in number are the Ndigbo. In Ado Ekiti alone, we are about 30, 000.

“We always explore wherever is a virgin land for business, which is why we tend to dominate the economy wherever we find ourselves. In Ekiti State, we are in charge of trading here, and you know where there are business activities, there is bound to be conflicts, so, our role is to settle such conflicts and mediate between parties so as to resolve issues.

“We have a very cordial relationship with the natives of the state; in fact, the Ewi of Ado and other traditional rulers have welcomed us into the state,” he said.
