Igbos can produced Nigeria’s next president if they are united – Ben Nnabuihe

A United States based Nigerian businessman, Mr Ben Nnabuihe, says Igbos can produce the next president of Nigeria if they are united.

Speaking in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, the US-based businessman said Ndigbos have the resources and manpower to lead the nation but must seek political relevance through unity.

He called on Igbos to work assiduously towards becoming relevant in the political calculation of the country.

According to Nnabuihe, “We have the manpower and the resources to produce the next president, but that will only be possible if we are united.

“What the Igbos need at the moment is to be very relevant and to occupy sensitive positions in the present administration.

“When we are well-positioned, it will give the Igbos very strong bargaining power in future politics of the country.”

Frowning at some Igbo leaders over their lack of unity of purpose, the US based Nigerian said, “We have very influential and reputable leaders, but they have never pursued a common goal and this factor will continue to fight against the progress of the south easterners.”

Nnabuihe cautioned pro-Biafra agitators to shelve the idea, as secession would only be counter-productive for the South Eastern race.

“We have continued to lose our youths in the name of freedom and this will not end until we come together to agree on the right approach to solving our problems,” he said.

Relatively, a former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu claimed an Igbo man can only emerge as President of Nigeria, if he joins the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
