Igbokwe criticizes NFF over ‘secret’ Anambra elections

One of the aspiring board members of the Anambra State Football Association, Ikechukwu Igbokwe, has accused the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of bias and favouritism.

Igbokwe claims he was only informed that May 2 was the date for the screening of candidates, instead of May 3, which was the original date.

The elections eventually produced Ifeanyi Ubah, as the chairman of the Anambra State Football Association.

“I was in Abuja on Monday when they (NFF) sent me a text message that the screening of candidates would hold that same day, instead of the following day as earlier scheduled.

“The text came at about 8am, and they said the screening was for 11.30 am and there was no way I could have gotten to Awka in three hours.

“So, they disqualified me because they said I failed to attend the screening exercise, which just smacks of bias and pure favoritism.”

NFF is yet to make an official statement on the matter.
