The Abia state Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has stated that a peaceful Nigeria is what the Igbo seek because they are found doing business in all parts of the country.
The Governor stated this yesterday when he received the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, who paid him a courtesy call.
“If Nigeria is perpetually in trouble, it will not augur well for the Igbo, who are republican and found everywhere in the country,” he said, stressing that Igbo are desperate for peace in Nigeria.
Ikpeazu assured that the people of the state would continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to move the nation forward.
Donating two Hilux vehicles to support the army in the state, he commended the military for degrading and decimating the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East.
The Governor also commended the army for curbing violent crimes in the state, as well as pipeline vandalism.
Speaking earlier, Buratai informed the Governor about the ongoing “Exercise Python Dance” in the South-East, explaining that it was meant to train troops on internal security.
Recall that when the COAS visited the Imo Government House in Owerri, Governor Rochas Okorocha declared that the Igbo are “the most truthful, committed and trustworthy people but often misunderstood in the country”.
