Members of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, on Wednesday afternoon engaged the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Suleiman Abba in a heated argument over last Thursday’s security siege on the National Assembly.

The committee had summoned Abba to explain the circumstances that led some of his men to prevent Speaker Aminu Tambuwal from gaining access into the parliament building and in the process harassed the Speaker as well as other lawmakers.

During the exchange, Abba said some thugs tried to gain illegal access into the premises of the federal legislature hence the use of teargas and force.

But lawmakers were angry when Abba refused to recognise Tambuwal as Speaker and demanded him to revert his position.

The session got heated as the lawmakers took turn to rebuff the IGP.
