‘Ifreke’s Inventory: Barc’ with a bang and other stories

La Liga is back.

Okay, let’s be honest. I’m not exactly whooping excited as when the Premier League opened with Hull City vs Leicester City.

But you surely know we will keep peeping at what Barcelona and the Madrid teams do this season – yeah, there is hardly a surprise in Spain when May swings by.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are back.

Deprived of the last member of their MSN trinity, Messi and Suarez still managed to crush Real Betis 6-2.

The Argentine was especially a joy to watch.

Eclectic. Electric. Eccentric.

I won’t even bother colouring his magic with words.

Real and Atletico were in action on Sunday. Gareth Bale made their intentions very clear in just 70secs and they went on to win 3-0. It was a different story for their city rivals. Diego Simeone’s men conceded a 95th goal to draw 1-1 at home against Alaves.

An interesting season has begun in Spain.

In England, it was Match Day 2 and the Manchester teams are leading the way.

On Friday night, United saw off Southampton 2-0 at Old Trafford. Paul Pogba finally made his bow and showed us glimpses of what to expect.

The next day at lunch time, City overcame a bit of panic to beat Stoke City 4-1.

I said before the season kicked off, that it will be Manchester versus the others – possibly London.

Only Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are matching the Manchester teams for now. Spurs have four points and Arsenal have just one.

Match Day 3 will reveal more.
