‘Ifreke Inyang: 5 quick thoughts from Sunday’s El Clasico

Casillas’ time is up

After watching tonight’s game, you have to hold your hands up and say Iker Casillas has got to go. The goalkeeper was arguably at fault for both of the goals conceded. The big men at Real Madrid should be on the phone to David De Gea’s agent. He will be a great replacement.

Bale needs talking to

Gareth Bale has been a shadow of himself lately. The Welshman seems to be obsessed with just running and trying to score all by himself. There was a great chance at 1-1 to find Ronaldo, who would have at least hit target. But he chose to run into Barca defenders.

Oh, and Neymar too

Another player that needs a earful is Neymar. The forward carried his tacky form from their Champions League win over Manchester City into the El Clasico. He missed a glorious opportunity when they were 1-0 ahead and spurned a few decent openings. He needs to step it up. This is not a kick about on a Brazilian beach.

Barcelona have the momentum now

With this win, Barcelona are now steaming away at the top of La Liga, four points clear of Real Madrid. It’s not as if the title is done and dusted, but the Catalans have the momentum now.

It is still the biggest game

The El Clasico is still the biggest game there is. What – with attacking talents like Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez, Neymar and Bale on one pitch, you are bound to have waves and waves of attack and of course, super goals. Like Ronaldo’s leveller. Or better still, the supreme Suarez finish that decided the tie.
