‘Ifreke Inyang: 3 reasons why we should blame Oliseh not Enyeama

Vincent-Enyeama-1-1

I stand by Enyeama.

It is both bias and sentiment. We come from the same state and I’m sure we all agree on this one: only few goalkeepers in our history hold a candle to the Lille shot-stopper. Even in Europe.

Now I have heard Enyeama’s side. And once again, you feel Oliseh would have handled the issue better.

Here are three reasons why we can easily blame the former Dortmund midfielder for the fall-out:

1. Bad communication: From Enyeama’s version of the incident, it appears he did not have any issue with being dropped as the captain of the Eagles. What seemed to baffle him, was how casually Oliseh made the decision to pick Ahmed Musa. He is obviously not pleased that he was informed properly of the change. And he is also not happy he was allowed to ask questions and get explanations.

2. Poor man-management: Not only did Oliseh apparently fail to communicate properly with Enyeama about his decisions moving forward, but he did not handle the chain reaction well either. No matter what, he would have dealt with the situation better. Worse case scenario, Enyeama would have been benched for the Congo and Cameroon games and then eased out subtly. How did it come to opening the door for him to leave? It reeks of Iker Casillas at Real Madrid.

3. Hypocrisy: Now we have questions for Oliseh. Did he really want Enyeama in his team? Yes, we know he drove all the way to France to buy him lunch. Yes, we know the players almost wore black arm bands before the Tanzania game in Dar es Salaam. But how do you explain inviting four goalkeepers, because you were not expecting the first choice of 13 years? From this point of view, it seems Oliseh was setting Enyeama up for what has happened.
