Players of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, are being forced to forfeit two months’ pay.
According to reports, they are being owed four months’ salary, but have been ordered to accept two month’s pay and sign an undertaking that the club is not owing them anymore.
“We are being owned four months’ salary excluding December and they are paying two months to players after signing agreement that they are not owing us any more money, in fact some were paid less than two months’ salary,” one of the players revealed to AfricanFootball.
“The agreement must be signed before you are paid. I thought it was a joke when some of my teammates told me until I got to the office and the same happened to me.”
Part of the content of the letter read in part: “Letter of acknowledgement – I, Mr (player’s name) acknowledged that the money paid to me by IfeanyiUbah FC is all my entitlement for 2014/15 football season…”
