The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on the Department of State Services, DSS, to immediately release the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd., Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah in line with court order.
Similar call also came from the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, which accused the DSS of having a penchant for disregard to court orders.
DAILY POST recalls that a Federal High Court had on Thursday given the DSS 48 hours to free Ubah from custody.
Speaking in Enugu at an event organized by the Authority Newspapers to honour the wives of South-East governors, the national President of the Ohanaeze Youths, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro lauded the judge for his courage in giving the orders.
“We want to salute the judge for upholding the law and human rights. The court indeed showed that the DSS cannot be the accuser and the judge at the same time”, he said.
However, while calling on the DSS to obey the order, Isiguzoro vowed that “we shall mobilize the youths for a protest if the court’s order is disobeyed.”
Similarly, the IPOB in a statement by its media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful said “We have been informed by IPOB intelligence unit that Ifeanyi Ubah’s arrest by the DSS was the perfection of hard economic policies against our people and a strangulation of Igbo businessmen in Nigeria no matter your class.
“The ground plan to stop every business controlling by our people in Nigeria is eating deep in Nigeria economy because our people are the major businessmen in Nigeria today irrespective of the 20£ they gave to our in 1970 after the war.
“In line with this, arresting Dr. Ifeanyi Uba because of his legitimate business proves to all and sundry that we are no more needed in the contraption called Nigeria.
“We are also aware that this is the another way of completing the economic policy of 1970 which permitted them to give Biafrans 20£ after the war in 1970 irrespective of the amount in the bank. But we will not allow their plans against the people of Biafra to excel this time around.
“The Nigeria court ordered for the release of Dr. Ifeanyi Uba within 48 hours but the DSS continues keeping him in their secret cell.
“We want to ask: when did the DSS turn to be court of law in Nigeria; again what did he committ that warranted such a curel statement from the DSS that he should be sentenced to death?
“We want the DSS to know that an attack on Ifeanyi Uba is attack on Biafrans; the DSS should know that we are watching on this matter and must continue following it until it get to the logical conclusion.
“It is pathetic that well meaning Nigerians are still keeping quiet over the continued damage the DSS is causing Nigeria in the face of international community.
“More so, we want to state it categorically clear to all the Northern dominated DSS and other politicians that nothing should happen to our brother Dr. Ifeanyi Uba because he committed no crime against anybody or Nigeria state.
“In line with this, we warn that Ifeanyi Ubah should be release with immediate effect before it is too late or they will see the power of IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu in all over the world; we cannot afford to watch them continue to humiliate and intimate him for just no cause.
“Indeed, it is dangerous that Nigeria government will be releasing those Fulani herdsmen and Boko harm members who were killing innocent people in Biafraland and other parts of Nigeria and still disobeying court order for releasing someone who committed no crime.
“This hard economic policy against the Biafra businessmen, especially the Igbo businessmen by the Northern Nigeria oligarchy and their hausa fulani dominated security apparatus must stop.”
