Idris orders immediate deployment of DIG to arrest killers of Plateau monarch

The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Ibrahim Idris, on Thursday directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), DIG Joshack Habilla to proceed to Plateau State immediately to ensure the arrest of killers of Chief Lazarus Agaie, the traditional ruler of Bokkos.

The monarch was murdered on Monday while on his way from a farm.

Also killed were his wife, son and Police orderly.

Lamenting the incident, IGP Idris was quoted in a statement by Force spokesman, Don Awunah, as saying that those behind the gruesome murder of the monarch will be fished out in record time for prosecution.

He noted that it was pathetic to see the life of individuals, irrespective of his or her status, snuffed out by criminals or gangs in whatever guise.

Idris warned that while the death of the monarch, his family and orderly were painful, no one should engage in reprisal attack.

The IGP, therefore, advised those aggrieved to be patient with the Police as investigation had commenced.

He appealed to anyone with useful information to assist the police in order to achieve a fruitful and timely result.
