Brown Ideye has been ruled out of Nigeria’s friendly matches against Uganda and South Africa this week, because of a minor injury.
The West Brom striker was also missing for the Premier League side, as they were hammered 3-0 at Manchester City on Saturday.
Super Eagles Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye, confirmed the 26-year-old’s absence, but insisted he will be available for selection in future.
“The players are already on their way to Uyo to resume the upcoming games with Monday mandated as deadline. Only Brown Ideye will not be available for the ties against Uganda and South Africa,” Ibitoye told Goal .
“We have been informed by the [West Brom] officials about his injury – this was the major reason why he was rested for the weekend. Unfortunately, it means he will miss our two international friendlies.”
Warri Wolves striker Onyekachi Okafor, has been called up as Ideye’s replacement.
