Brown Ideye has admitted that he is relieved to have finally found the back of the net with the national team, after an eight-month drought.
The Dino Kyiv striker scored twice as Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 4-1, in a friendly match played on Tuesday in Kaduna.
“I thank God because I have been waiting so long for this,” Ideye told KickOffNigeria.com. “I always had belief in myself and I know that I can do it.”
Ideye, who last scored for Nigeria in a 4-1 win over Mali in the semi-final of the African Nations Cup, thanked Stephen Keshi, for having trust in me all the while.
He said: “I want to thank the coach for believing in me. He told me to forget about what people say or write about me, that he is the one who makes the decision and he trusts me.
“I thank God that his trust has paid off and I hope the goals will start coming now.”
