ICPC to try two lecturers for alleged rape

Two lecturer working with the University of Calabar, UNICAL, and University of Lagos, UNILAG, who were accused of rape are to be prosecuted soon by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC.

DAILY POST recalls that Dr. Baruwa of UNILAG, was accused of forcing himself on a young lady seeking admission into the institution in August. Similarly, the Dean of UNICAL’s Faculty of Law, Prof. Ndifon, was alleged to have raped a 400-Level student of the faculty, leading to his suspension by the school authorities.

While addressing participants at the 2nd Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) Annual Colloquium, which held in Abuja yesterday, Chairman of ICPC, Mr Ekpo Nta said the anti-graft agency, will institute separate charges against the two lecturers.

Nta said the trial of the two lecturers will be on charges of alleged abuse of office.

“The ICPC is getting involved on the basis of abuse of office, because you would not have had access to those (girls), if not because of your office,” he disclosed.
