Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to sign a new Manchester United contract this week, sources have told ESPN FC.
The 35-year-old, who is recovering from a knee ligament injury sustained while playing for United in April, is currently a free agent
His new contract will be announced earlier than anticipated, due to the former Sweden international’s quick recovery.
Ibrahimovic’s previous deal at Old Trafford expired in June, but manager Jose Mourinho also wanted him to remain at the club.
Mourinho was hugely impressed not only by Ibrahimovic’s 28 goals in his first season and his influence in the dressing room.
LA Galaxy were understood to be keen to sign the striker in July, but he would prefer to return to United, even though his wage will be significantly lower than it was in the one-year deal he initially signed.
