Sky Sports pundits, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville has said that referee Kevin Friend “bottled it”, for not sending off Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the first half of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday.

Ibrahimovic appeared to elbow Tryone Mings, fews minutes after the Bournemouth defender appeared to stamp on him.

However, Friend failed to send any of the players off.

“Mings deserved a smack for that,” Carragher said.

“It’s a disgraceful cowardly stamp.

“You can’t support what Zlatan did with the elbow. But stamping on someone’s head when they are on the floor is disgraceful.

“But the ref has either seen it and bottled it. I think he’s just panicked, bottled it and just froze”.

Former United defender, Neville, added: “The Tyrone Mings stamp is naughty and nasty,” said Neville on commentary.

“It is an absolute cowardly act. Terrible.

“But Zlatan’s isn’t much better and both very lucky

“The referee has bottled it – which I don’t like to say about refs. But if he has seen it he has to send off Mings and Ibrahimovic.

“Zlatan has gone back for retribution so he should go as well. It’s a mess.

“Kevin Friend is all over the place.”
