Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, (IBEDC), on Thursday launched an Asset and Customer Enumeration (ACE) project.

IBEDC, which covers Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara and parts of Niger, Ekiti and Kogi states said that the project was aimed at improving billing accuracy, power distribution and targeting N5billion, spanning over two years.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, IBEDC, Mr John Donnachie who disclosed this while declaring the project open at the Capital Building headquarters of the company, in Ibadan, Oyo State, revealed that the ACE project was the technical audit of IBEDC assets and data capturing of existing and prospective customers.

He explained that ACE project will enable proper tracking by IBEDC and data collation “of all customers under the franchise of authorized and non-registered, using geographic information System (GIS) technology,” adding that “a pair of enumeration officers will carry or field; door to door, survey with smart handheld devices to capture asset details and customer information.”

Donnachie maintained that the project was designed “to enhance the efficiency of our distribution system in terms of quality of power and increase revenue earnings by reducing our Aggregate Technical Commercial and collection (ATC & C) losses.

“It will give us a comprehensive database of all electricity customers in our franchise. There are approximately 1.3million registered customers in our database which is far from the true number of electricity user in our network.

“These enumerators will work in conjunction with IBEDC officials who will serve as supervisors and project coordinators for their respective business hubs”.
