Super Eagles boss, Sunday Oliseh, has revealed that he will field John Mikel Obi, in the exact role that Guus Hiddink utilizes him at Chelsea.
Oliseh’s predecessor, Stephen Keshi, placed Mikel Obi in a roaming role and gave him license to attack too.
But the former national team captain says he will not bow to the 28-year-old’s wishes, but will do what is best for the team.
“With the national team, it’s not what you want that matters, it is what will bring us results,” Oliseh told Brila FM.
“If you don’t want to do that, I will play players who want to help us, like I did against Swaziland.
“My personal opinion is that he should be given a more central defensive role, like (Guus) Hiddink is using him. He should be the umbrella for the two central defenders.”
It would be recalled that when Nigeria hosted Swaziland in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Port Harcourt last year, Oliseh benched Mikel Obi for the entire game.
