The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu said he will only be answerable to the people when he becomes the next governor of the state.
In a chat with newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital, Ikpeazu debunked talks that he’ll be a mere figure head.
Ikpeazu said, “unlike the impression some people are having about me, I will owe allegiance only to the citizens of the state with whose mandate I will govern the state if elected and not to any other person”.
On the controversy over his 82,240 votes against APGA’s Alex Otti who received 1952 votes in Obingwa local government, Ikpeazu said his people voted for their son to be the first Ngwa person to be governor, of the state.
Ikpeazu further explained that Obingwa local government where he comes from is unarguably three local governments rolled into one and that it is the largest local government in the state both in population and land mass.
This population advantage he said, made all past governors of the state to choose their deputies from the area.
The PDP candidate said that since the creation of the state, Obingwa always gave massive votes to whoever was contesting for the position of Abia Governor.
