Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said he is looking forward to the January transfer windoe, but has reaffirmed his desire to bring in “exceptional” players to bolster his squad.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with Demba Ba and Crystal Palace’s Wilfred Zaha, with another target, Klass-jan Huntelaar extending his deal with Schalke 04.
Wenger is believed to be sitting on a £30 million kitty, but insists he is not in a rush to spend.
“We are in the market but only if we find players who will really strengthen us because we have a good squad. But if we find an exceptional player then we will take him.
“We lacked fluidity in our attacks against Wigan and continuity in our attacking play but we won because of our will to win. And, with the way things are now, I won’t turn my nose up at that,” he is quoted as saying in the English press.
On the other side of the door, winger Andrey Arshavin looks set to leave the Gunners for Reading in a £3 million deal.
