Former Governor of the Central Bank (CBN) and a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has promised that he would remain in the party even if he lost the party’s ticket to run for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Already, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed November 16, 2013 for the poll.
Speaking after appearing before the screening panel of the party, Soludo, who is among the 16 aspirants that picked APGA’s Expression of Interest and nomination form, said he joined the party to strengthen it and not just to contest for an election.
He assured that he will create 100,000 private sector jobs months after assuming office, adding that his government would make agriculture a priority.
“All I want to do is to show what service is all about. I want to put Anambra on the world map,” he said.
Soludo stated that he would do everything possible to free the people from poverty, while focusing on rural dwellers.
Another aspirant, Dr Chike Obidigbo, an industrialist, said his mission was to create jobs for youths in the state.
According to him, Anambra “needs a good look at the economy. We want to provide sustainable jobs. We will also pay attention to the productive sector.”
On whether a consensus candidate may emerge, he said the aspirants were discussing to see whether such deal could be possible.
“The important thing is that we are discussing, nothing is ruled out,” Obidigbo said.
He added that he has confidence in the screening panel, urging members of the committee to be transparent and fair.
