I will not appear before House Committee on Ethics – Hon. Abdulmumin


The embattled erstwhile Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin has vowed not to appear before the House Committee on Ethics as a result of

House decision to summon him for accusing the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, and some principal officers of budget padding.

In a statement he issued on Wednesday and made available to DAILY POST in Abuja, Jibrin explained that he never denigrated the entire House as portrayed by those loyal to Dogara during Wednesday’s plenary.

“I want to make myself very clear on this matter that it was not the entire House I christened being corrupt, but the Speaker and four principal. Officers”, the statement noted.

He said Dogara and members involved in padding decided to make his allegation against look as if it was the entire House he was talking about.

Jibrin further appealed to his colleagues to ignore such diversionary tactics.

Meanwhile, a member loyal to Abdulmumin camp who spoke with DAILY POST, Hon. Mohammed Musa Soba, stressed that the Committee on Ethics might have predetermined Jubrin’s suspension and would not be a surprise if it turned out to be so.

He confirmed to our correspondent that Jibrin “was not alone in this battle”, noting that they were resolved to see to the end of the matter, “even if it means going to the executive arm to block execution of projects these few people persons for themselves.”
