I will make Pinnick forget about hiring foreign coach – Siasia

Interim coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia, has vowed to make President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, abandon the idea of hiring a foreign manager.

The former international was appointed on a temporary basis, after Sunday Oliseh resigned from the role and will take charge of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations double header against Egypt.

Siasia has made it clear that his target from the two games is six points and ultimately a place at the tournament in Gabon next year.

“What he said about Sunday Oliseh being the last Nigerian coach for Super Eagles doesn’t bother us, in short we in the technical crew have taken it as a challenge and we are very hopeful that we shall beat Egypt to the group ticket,” Siasia told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“It is a big task but we are capable of getting results that will convince him that we are equal to the task.

“If we beat Egypt home and away and go ahead to pick the ticket to AFCON in Gabon, why should we not lead the team to Gabon? All we wanted was to give us a chance and now that we have it, we must utilize it to restore the dignity of Nigerian coaches that has been battered in recent years by indigenous coaches.”
