“I will chase your wives out of the barracks” – Chief of Army Staff warns soldiers

Still angered over recent protest by wives and children of some Nigerian soldiers in Borno State, the Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lt General Kenneth Minimah, has warned that such act would be visited with stiff punishment in future.

DailyPost recalls that wives of some soldiers at the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army protested against posting of their spouses to Boko Haram ravaged areas.

However, speaking at the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday, Minimah equally warmed that any soldier or officer involved in mutiny would be court Marshalled and sentenced to death.

He warned that the army has no room for rebels, stressing that punishment for soldiers and officers involved in mutiny remained death sentence.

The COAS, who is in a familiarization tour of military units in the Division, further warned that soldiers caught sabotaging the ongoing war against insurgents in the North-East would be seriously sanctioned.

He said it was an offence for any soldier to sabotage the nation’s ongoing campaign to rid Nigeria of insurgency and terrorist elements.

“Very soon we will identify them and they will go through a field court marshal and executed in the theatre”, he vowed.

General Minimah insisted that soldiers wives had no right to carry our protest on behalf of their husbands because they were not enlisted into the army.

He stated that authorities of the Nigerian Army would not hesitate to kick wives of soldiers that would embark on any for of protest out of the barracks.

The COAS also disclosed that they have concluded plans to buy more arms and ammunition, assuring that they would arrive the country even as he expressed hope that Boko Haram would soon be defeated.
