Immediate past governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam has accused the current administration of Samuel Ortom of being behind his invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This is just as the former governor insisted that he is willing and ready to face the consequences of his actions and in-actions while serving as governor of the agrarian state for eight years.
Suswam who stated this yesterday in an interview with Leadership, however, expressed anger over the deliberate attempt by APC government led by Governor Ortom to denigrate his name with outright deceit and falsehood.
According to Suswam, “the government of the state through a hired agent wrote a petition and that petition was from the Mike Iordye, the former head of service led committee, because most of things the EFCC asked me were the same recommendations that I saw in the Iordye report and I believe it was government of Benue that induced that because everything in that Iordye committee is what is with the EFCC.”
“They invited me and I honoured the invitation and they treated me with courtesy. I did eight years as governor and if I am asked to account for my stewardship, there is no time I would run away.
“I am ready to face the consequences of my actions and inactions while I was governor in Benue State and so. I have no problem with that. Allegations of corruptions are being bandied everywhere in Benue about me and most of the principal officers of the present government especially the SSG (Takema), his preoccupation is to go anywhere and say that Suswam is a thief but I have gotten used to it,” he stated.
