A 70-year-old man, Alhaji Muntari Nasiru has confessed that he took to armed robbery to sustain his three wives and 11 children.
While being paraded at the Bompai Police headquarters in Kano on Tuesday, Nasiru said, “I have been in this business for three years. I use it to feed my three wives and their 11 children.
He added that he just got married to his last wife aged 13, adding that he engaged in armed robbery to cater for their needs.
The state Command Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Magaji Musa Majia who paraded the septuagenarian, said on February 22, 2016, a victim of armed robbery reported to the police that a gang of four armed men robbed him.
“Our Ambush Squad immediately went into action and arrested one Nura Aliyu and Alhaji Muntari Nasiru aged 70, who actively participated in the operation.
“They confessed to the crime and mentioned the other members of the syndicate and the Command have spread its dragnet.”
The PRO assured that other members will be arrested and be brought to face the law.
