The Acting-Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has said that the commission, under his watch, secured the first conviction of an ex-governor for corrupt misconduct committed while in office.
According to him, the conviction was a step that showed the renewed determination of the commission to fight corruption.
Magu, who vowed that nobody can stop him, said this while fielding questions from newsmen after his screening at the Senate on Wednesday.
He also disclosed that the EFCC was working to guarantee the safety of Whistle Blowers who have been catalysts to the achievements recorded by the commission in recent times.
“We have just convicted and ex-governor. So, there is improvement. There has never been the conviction of an ex-governor.
“We are determined to fight corruption. Nobody can stop that. We are working to guarantee the safety of Whistle Blower,” Magu stated
Recall that a High Court in Yola, Adamawa State, convicted and jailed former Governor, Bala James Ngilari, for failing to adhere to the procurement laws of the state as charged by the EFCC.
