I remain a staunch PDP member – Ex-Minister, Jumoke Akinjide reacts to defection rumour

Former Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Olajumoke Akinjide on Tuesday denial a rumour that she had joined a former Governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Akinjide who stated that she remains “a loyal and committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state” declared that she “will not for any reason derail from her unflagging zeal towards building a PDP that is viable and strong in Oyo state, the South West and at the national level”.

The PDP chieftain in a statement issued on her behalf by her Special Assistant on Media, Alhaji Isiaka Kehinde, a copy of which was made available to DAILY POST Tuesday morning informed that her decision to issue such a statement was to set the record straight.

Akinjide said, “In view of the on-going defection of Senator Rashidi Ladoja and others from PDP to ADC, I wish to state categorically that I remain a staunch member of the PDP.

“While I acknowledge Senator Ladoja’s inalienable and constitutional right to move to any party of his choice, and deeply regret that he could not find accommodation in our great party, (PDP)”.

Akinjide added that, “I remain, a loyal and committed member of the PDP and will work assiduously towards the party’s success in the forthcoming general elections”.

While speaking further, Akinjide stated that given the present situation of the party in the state, “all hands must now be on deck to strengthen the party and uphold the values of internal discipline in order for the party to realise it’s full potential and record a roaring victory in the forthcoming general elections.”
